Buff Orpington

These hens were created by William Cook in the county of Kent in the late 19^th century.  These days their egg laying ability has declined but will still lay well over a 100 eggs a year. They are good free rangers but not flyers. Their docile nature means they make good broody hens and mothers and their large size means they can cover a large amount of eggs.
